I certainly think your observations are valid. As a Vicci fan, I was disappointed that she didn't even place in the top two. I liked her song, although most recappers online discussed it as weak. I also love 80s power ballads and her song had an eerily resemblance to that era, so I enjoyed it. However, most people tend to dislike that sort of music and it certainly isn't popular anymore, so I think that hurt her chances. And, as much as I liked Beverly, her song choice was just awful and stood out like a sore thumb in comparison to the other contestant's songs. In particlar, Dia's song and her voice is similar to music found on popular teen shows and their soundtracks (particularly Vampire Diaries and even the Twilight movie series). And Javier's song was okay; I personally never like Javier (too many facial expressions when he sang) so I didn't pay too much attention when he was singing. Therefore, I really do not think that it was a bias in the viewing public that made a difference. Instead, the coach's song choices was probably the reason why the voting went a certain way. Also Beverly has been doing very well in the Rock charts, and therefore, her music is not necessarily in the realm of popular music but she should be successful in that particular niche. I think that if Vicci had a more contemporary sounding song she would have had a better chance.
